Stop Asking If You’re Doing Life “Right”
Midlife has a way of making you question everything you thought you were doing “right.” This blog is a pause in that noise. A space for reflection, self-trust, and the quiet realization that there isn’t one right way to live—only your way.

Have you ever found yourself wondering
“Am I making the right decision?”
Maybe it’s about changing careers. Starting over. Prioritizing yourself. Investing your time differently. Saying yes. Saying no.
We spend so much of our lives searching for the “right” answer that we often become afraid to make any decision at all.
I’ve realized that maybe we’re asking the wrong question.
Instead of asking,
“Is this the right choice?”
What if we asked,
“Does this choice make the life I want more likely?”
That simple shift has changed the way I think about almost everything.
We Can’t Predict the Future
One of the hardest parts of being an adult is accepting that certainty doesn’t exist.
No one can guarantee that changing jobs will make you happier.
That prioritizing your health will prevent illness.
That setting boundaries will improve every relationship.
That starting a business will succeed.
We’re often looking for guarantees that life simply can’t provide.
But while we can’t control outcomes, we can make choices that increase the likelihood of creating the life we want.
That’s a much more empowering way to live.
Every Choice Is a Vote
I recently began thinking about decisions in a different way.
Every choice is a vote for the future I’m creating.
One workout won’t transform your health.
One difficult conversation won’t transform a relationship.
One afternoon spent working on a dream won’t change your life overnight.
But repeated choices become patterns.
Patterns become habits.
Habits become the life you’re living.
The question isn’t whether today’s choice changes everything.
The question is whether it’s a vote for the life you’re trying to build.
Build a Personal Compass
I’ve stopped looking for certainty.
Instead, I’m trying to build a compass.
Before making an important decision, I ask myself:
What kind of life am I trying to build?
Does this choice make that life more likely?
If I repeated this choice over time, where would it lead?
Is this the next wise step?
Notice that none of these questions require me to know the future.
They simply help me make the next decision with greater intention.
A Small Exercise
Take five minutes today and write down your answer to this question:
What kind of life am I trying to build?
Not what looks successful.
Not what someone else expects.
The life that feels deeply aligned with what matters most to you.
Then, tomorrow morning, before making one meaningful decision, pause and ask yourself:
Does this choice move me toward that life?
You may not always know the perfect decision.
But you’ll almost always recognize the next wise one.
Because a meaningful life isn’t found.
It’s built—one intentional choice at a time.
